How to brief fitness content for a gym or personal trainer
Athlivo editorial guide — updated 12 October 2026
Before choosing a number of posts or videos, define who the content should help and which question it should answer. A clear brief makes quality checks and proposal comparisons easier.
1. Define the audience and purpose
Is your audience a new gym member, a coach, an athlete or a business owner? Choose one primary purpose: explain a training concept, introduce a service or answer a common question. For example: three posts explaining coaching services to new members.
2. Match the format to the message
A carousel can explain a topic step by step, a reel script can deliver a short message and a website page can describe a service in more detail. A script is a different deliverable from a filmed video. Specify slide count, duration, aspect ratio, captions and language separately.
3. Ask for sources and evidence limits
For scientific statements, ask for a primary research link and a brief explanation of the study population and limitations. Do not generalise a finding from one population to all athletes. Educational content should not promise treatment or provide personalised medical advice. Current Athlivo scientific samples are in English; translation must be included in the agreed scope.
4. Clarify media and publication rights
State whether footage is supplied by you, newly filmed or sourced under a suitable licence. Check permission from people shown and commercial usage rights for images, video and music. Possessing a file does not itself grant publication rights. Agree whether assets can be reused on the website and social media.
5. Define delivery and revisions
Agree on final files, language, dimensions, subtitles, sources, delivery date and revision rounds before work begins. Share style references. Final pricing and scheduling depend on production capacity; a starting package does not imply unlimited filming.
6. Evaluate against the original purpose
Check readability, accuracy, brand fit, audio, subtitles and rights at delivery. After publication, consider audience questions and relevant enquiries alongside impressions and clicks. Views alone do not prove sales. Business outcomes and search rankings are not guaranteed.
Example of a short brief
Audience: new gym members. Purpose: explain coaching services. Deliverables: two English carousels and two short video scripts. Inputs: service description and style references. Agree: sources, media rights, revisions, price and delivery schedule.
